DUE TO COVID19 JUDO CLASSES CONTINUE TO BE CANCELLED AT LEAST FOR FALL 2021

After a long battle with cancer, our club founder Sensei Joe Varga has passed away.  Joe started the club in a small room in the basement of the old Cambridge YMCA in downtown Galt and he spent many years passing on his knowledge and passion for judo.

 

Joe VargaNot only did he give of his time in the club, he was also a dedicated referee and was a respected member of the larger judo community.  Hundreds, if not thousands of lives have been enriched through his involvement in judo.

Although, he retired from judo many years ago he remained active through his other passions, ballroom dancing and his garden. He also stayed connected to the club and was a fixture at our annual Christmas dinners and summer picnics.  He will be missed and fondly remembered.

Expressions of sympathy can be posted on Joe's Guestbook and/or donations can be made to the Lisaard House.  Family and friends may pay their respects in person at the following times:
